Endless Benefits of Resource Point

By: Amanda Hill

A locally designed website and service of Northland Church, Resource Point, has opened up opportunities for thousands of families in need of various services while connecting people to people in order to create an all-around better community. Resource Point has proved successful in many aspects, such as, its ability to keep organized records of serviced families, connect resources to those in need, and share/store information in its easy to use secure system via the internet .  Mary Lou Couchois, a Case Manager at Northland Life Hope, explained how her initial feelings toward Resource Point were timid due to the technology aspect, yet it quickly proved to be user friendly and efficient in helping those in need.

Resource Point has become seemingly essential to the success of helping homeless families and individuals all over Central Florida through its two main tools: Community, and Advocacy. Each tool works to help the community by reaching out to individuals in different ways. The Community tool acts as a resource database to help those in need of various social services, the Advocacy tool captures client information and their case plans.

In order to ultimately achieve the goal of helping families within the community get to where they desire to be, Resource Point gives the public, staff members as well as volunteers the means of making this possible.
