Volunteer Resource Advocate Training

By: Diana Ludwig

Dear Northland Life Crossroads team: Maria, Gretchen and Emily

I am so excited to be a resource advocate/ case manager with FAO at Northland. When Pastor Joel Hunter asked for volunteers last November, I knew he was speaking right to my heart and I couldn’t wait to get started with training, even though I wasn’t 100% sure at what level I would become involved.

The training Northland Life Crossroads provided was fabulous. You three, along with Alissa Kraman and Trisha Mosher from Pathways to Home, gave us so many skills, tools and insights that will be invaluable in helping the school aged homeless kids and their families. In addition, we take with us a new appreciation and perspective of various life cultures and circumstances that we personally may not have experienced or even considered before! All of the classes were so incredibly interesting and interactive, that I never once looked at my watch, was bored or tired of sitting…if anything, I was a bit disappointed when class was over. The classes were not just classes, they were expressions from loving and caring hearts teaching other loving and caring hearts how to best serve and give HOPE to the less fortunate in our community.

What I never imagined was the amazing journey I would be on and the dedicated and caring people I would meet along the way. The new bonds and friendships are so dear…the commitment, so true…and the blessings so great!

You three have inspired us all….I know that future resource advocates have so much to look forward to as they embark on their own journeys with your guidance. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this beautiful journey. I look forward to serving in any way I can.

Blessings to you all,
